Unfortunately, we are no longer able to support Windows XP or Vista, and have not officially supported them for a couple years now. You can opt to reinstall the last version that was working for your XP system from here: http://RaceRender.com/RR3/archive/

I have also recently updated our current Windows installer to prevent installation on systems prior to Windows 7, so that others don't run into the same problem that you did.

Windows XP was released in 2001 and officially sunset by Microsoft in April of 2014. RaceRender continued to support XP SP3 and Vista until April of 2015, at which time Windows 7 had been out for nearly 6 years and became our stated minimum requirement, with XP & Vista compatibility then being only offered as-is. Nothing intentional was done to block XP or Vista users at that time, but Microsoft's development tools were trying to phase out XP target support, so the writing was on the wall... It was unfortunately evident that it would be increasingly problematic and counterproductive to keep supporting these abandoned operating systems, and at some point our latest software builds would probably stop working properly, or at all, on XP and/or Vista. It's now almost June of 2017, and it appears that we've finally hit that point.

The good news is that Windows 10 offers far more capability and performance for RaceRender users than its predecessors, and even Windows 7 offers quite a bit more than XP or Vista (although the bigger benefits started with Windows 8). Users of XP and Vista may still continue to use previous versions of RaceRender that had worked for them, on an as-is basis (same as before), but wont be able to utilize our latest and greatest updates and capabilities until they update their computer to a compatible modern operating system.
