    LSA with 4L80e

Hey guys. I?m new here, adding to this forum. I have an LSA crate motor(CTS-V) and a 4L80e in my 68 camaro. We cannot control the tranny through HP or the ecu. I?m not sure what to do here. The ECU looks to be out of a 2008 CTS-V. That?s what HP says. It appears this ecu can control a 6L but not 4L. The tranny is a jakes transmission from a 95-99 donor it appears.

Do I need an aftermarket tcu? Like TCI or something or is there a GM ecu that will work and control the supercharged motor and 4L?

An LSA is a great engine, however when you have no idea what you are doing, mistakes can be expensive.

With the Gen 3 (24x / 1x) LSx engines, the PCM controlled both the engine and the transmission.

Beginning around the 2006 model year with Gen 4 (58x / 4x) LSx engines, GM separated control into two modules - an ECM for the engine, and a TCM for the transmission.

Your LSA engine used an E67 ECM. A 4L80E will require a T42 TCM.

If this is a GMPP (CPP) kit, the ECM will be an E67 and the TCM will be a TC-2. The TC-2 TCM is not compatible with tuning software - the GMPP kit would have came with a flash drive to load the GM TC-2 software onto a notebook computer (with a 4L80E likely OS 19353293).

If this system is from an aftermarket supplier (Howell / Speartech / PSI), then it will likely have a T42 TCM running an OEM OS.

Also, you mentioned that your ECM was from a 2008 CTS-V. The CTS-V was not manufactured in 2008. In 2006 and 2007 the CTS-V used an LS2 6.0L engine. From 2009 to 2015 the CTS-V used an LSA 6.2L engine.
