    Mustang ecoboost over boost and reduced power

    Having an issue with our shop car. Tune or no tune it does the same thing. A little over half throttle it will through an over boost code (p0234) and go in reduced power. The mods are catted turbo back, turbosmart BOV, and a JLT cold air. I thought maybe the wastegate was a little weak so I replaced it with a turbo smart and it still does the same thing with the stock file or a tune file. I attached the log from the stock file. Right at 1:50:29 is where it happens. I've done similar mods a about 10 ecoboost mustangs with no issues. Thanks for your help.

    also Ecoboost does not global knock Retard. select PID's Knock Retard per cyl.

    I seen that. I thought that was strange due to stock boost and stock tune. I also have a large heat exchanger on the car. Problem accrued before HE.

    I do not recommend lage intercoolers with stock Turbochargers, the performace hole is to big. you can set the intercooler volume higher in Fuel> Transient. but this is not your issue.

    I did the stock boost wg till I find the problem. No sense adding the tune back in or extra boost till issue is solve. I got the larger intercooler because of going with a turbonetics turbo when problem is solved.

    You need to adjust the tune for the new Wastegate Actuator Preload and update your Canister FF table so the ECM knows how to regulate TIP using the new Waste Gate Actuator. The base spring pressure may be the same as OEM, but I'd bet that that the spring rates are noticeably different.

    You need to know what the preload is (base spring pressure + 2mm travel) in inHg to update the Spring Preload value in your tune.
    You also need to know what actuator full travel pressure is in inHg.

    Log these parameters:

    Throttle Inlet Pressure Desired
    Throttle Inlet Pressure Actual
    Throttle Inlet Pressure Error
    Turbo Exhaust Mass Flow Estimated
    Turbo Estimated MFRACT Exhaust Flow

    Build a Histogram that matches the size and dimensions of the Desired Canister Pressure FF table from you tune.
    Parameter: Throttle Inlet Pressure Error
    Columns: Turbo Exhaust Mass Flow Estimated
    Rows: Turbo Estimated MFRACT Exhaust Flow

    Filtering: ( [15004.97] > ( [50032.97] + ##.## ) )
    ##.## = Turbo Wastegate Preload in inHg

    A Positive TIP Error requires a lower Canister Pressure FF value
    A Negative TIP Error requires a higher Canister Pressure FF value

    You will notice an line/curve in the table where TIP Actual is below Barometric Pressure + Preload. This is the threshold of action and values to the left and above this line/curve in the table should be set to actuator full travel in inHg.

    Hope that helps. It's going to take a few drive cycles to get in dialed in.

    How would one go about determining the preload and full travel in inHg? Could you apply pressure to the wastegate to see where it cracks and extends to full travel and convert to inHg?
