Nitrous with IAT trick! Need some quick advice.

Hey I have a TBSS that I'm spraying. Logged it tonight while spraying and noticed it didn't pull any timing. I am using the IAT relay trick to fool the ecm to pull timing.

I have a resistor inline that jumps the IAT to 12* when triggered. Well my table doesn't have a 12* range. Only 5 and 14*. Well I figured 14* was close enough for it to work correctly. but its not pulling any timing. I do have the multiplier to 1, with -8 for the timing pulled.

My question is should I have the same exact temp and columns for It to work correctly? I figured the ecm would use the closest cells.

I'm thinking of removing resistor and just using the relay to ground the IAT and make it read -40 completely.

    Thoughts?

i'm using that trick on my '05 gto. Make sure your logging the total timing, not base timing. I'm using a 20k ohm resistor = -29degrees. I have in the iat temp timing tables to pull timing starting at the -4 to -40 range. In alabama, where never going to see that temp. Don't just ground the signal..it'll do a default thing and kinda lock the temp at it's last reading and not pull anything.

I was using the standard timing pid when u connect to a vehicle. I disconnected solenoids today and tried it and iat goes to 12* like stated but no timing removed. May try going one row down and command -8* out and see if it tht works.

try posting your tune..i can try to look at it. I haven't ever looked at a tune on here. Atleast someone else could look.

here is an older tune but should still have the tables modified for the iat trick.

You need 3.6 to open it.
2016 Silverado CCSB 5.3/6L80e, not as slow but still heavy.

If you don't post your tune and logs when you have questions you aren't helping yourself.

well damn. I really don't like upgrading...used too the format. Is there any 'new' usefull tables for a E40 on it? I'm running version 3.0.99

try making the columns from -20 to -10 into the number you want to retard, log IAT spark advance and manually activate the relay

just upgraded and can read it. I thought all tbss's had the same E40 pcm as the gto...the e67 has a ton of extra tables. For one...I'd put a (1) in all the multiplier tables in the Iat tables...mine are. And like the post above, I'd do all rows from 12 degrees to -40 as the number you want pulled. Got a question...I was looking at your injection timing...why do you have the numbers around 460? Wouldn't that have the injectors firing way before the intake valve opens?

Im still learning the injector portion. I left all that stock for now. What do u recommend on the injector timing? Didnt think about logging iat timing. That may be the ticket. Thanks.

i'm not real sure on the (boundary) timing either..haven't got the spreadsheet to work just right. The stock on a gto is 520 across the board. I run ~550's in mine...still playing around.

Well ive tried everything in the scanner to get it to log the timing being pulled. It doenst show anything. Total timing advance stays the same no matter what. Is there something i need to be logging? Even tries iat advance and it just saya zero.

what is your Iat reporting in your log when doing a pull? Maybe you need to bracket around the 14* column in your retard and multiplier tables.

Hey im updating this post. I have a customer truck we did this same mod to. I cant get it to show timing being pulled in scanner. When i arm nitrous iat jumps to -40* but timing stays at commanded 30* wot. Ive logged iat timing etc. Nothing shows timing being pulled. Im commanding -8* when armed. Iat timing in scanner stays at 0*.

Is there a certain table tht needs to be logged to show actual timing being pulled? I know the tune is set up correct. I ran into this issue with my tbss and sprayed it for yrs without issues. I would just like to know for certain tht it is working. This is a customers ride. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

Check the IAT's secondary multiplier tables are all set to 1.0 in the area where you want it active.
