DUAL 150 GPS SDK is Available

Dual has a download link for the SDK for the XGPS 150 on their website: http://gps.dualav.com/explore-by-pro...ps150a/#tabs-9

It's a Github file, and It's for the IOS SDK....

Maybe they will share the Android stuff too.

This SDK is what we've been using on iOS, but unfortunately the bytes that the -setFastSampleRate method sends to the XGPS150 to make it run at 5 Hz are apparently different between iOS and Android, and we only know the iOS version. I didn't get any response when trying to obtain the Android details from them in the past.

Fortunately, their XGPS160 works at 10 Hz right out of the box, so it's only the XGPS150 that needs to be enabled for >1 Hz. I have found that once it's enabled for 5 Hz by the iOS version of our app, it will then continue to work at 5 Hz for Android as well, so borrowing an iOS device one time is a possible workaround.

I was reading some posts in other discussion forums, and a few mentioned the baud rate, being too fast (about 78,000 needed for 5Hz updates) for the Android OS and applications to process, and the 4800 baud that Android uses is fine for 1Hz updates, which is why Dual won't bother to cooperate with Android Developers.

As for the XGPS 160, who would spend $600 for something that does a good-enough job for $50? I bought a 150 for my dad to try in his airplane, and I think it should be fine for just following yourself on a map. For IFR flight, you definitely need the faster updates of the XGPS 160, and if you can afford an airplane, you can probably afford the $600 for the 160.

P.S.: I have been conversing with dual about the 150 (replacing battery, mounts, etc) and as soon as I mentioned the Android SDK, they stopped replying.

I don't think I've paid more than $150 for an XGPS160, so a $600 version would probably be bundled with something else or is one of their other models with ADS-B. I just found it for $120 here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00E65TNYE...SAAEgK4xvD_BwE

I recently got an XGPS 160 via eBay for $40 but it wasn't a 160! It was a 150 mis-labeled as a 160. After I put in a bid, the seller changed the description. It works fine as an XGPS 150, so that will be fine, even without the 5 or 10Hz update rates.

Unfortunately, when I mention Android application programming or the Android SDK, DUAL customer service goes silent.
