    Change VIN 05 Cavalier

Hoping this is the right place to post this. I have an 05 Cavalier supercharged that came with a GM reflashed PCM. That PCM was locked and I could not use it with HPT. So, I got a junkyard PCM from an 04 but it obviously has a different VIN. That didn't matter until emissions inspection laws changed this year. I need to change the VIN to match the car. After reading many, many threads on this I want to be sure:

Will the change VIN edditor work for me?
Will it cost me more credits to unlock the new VIN once I've changed it?

Same car, motor, and OS between 04 and 05 cavaliers. Literally nothing changed but the year. Any and all information is appreciated!

best bet would be to have the vin/os pair you want in the ecm programmed via tech2/mongoose or similar oem style flash device, then read/license with our software. Any other way will likely cost you more credits than having it flashed properly would.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

Unfortunate. Though that is what i assumed. 150ish bucks from gm, 100 from hpt. Almost reaching what this cavalier is worth in the first place.

can you take the locked pcm in to the dealer to have them do the vin change retaining the software?
I have a burrito in my colon, yet refried beans come out...
How i know it's from the same meal? I didn't ingest corn any other time.

Negative. They're the ones who flashed it originally and most refuse to change it back for some reason. Also I sold it a while ago so it's gone. Really wish I could have unlocked it with HPT. There are parameters in there that HPT does not give access to that would make tuning for boost much easier.
