    Injection timing vs delay

Can someone please explain the difference here to me? The delay is obviously in the ficm, but I'm trying to understand what exactly the difference is between the two controls. TIA...

The delay settings are how long it mechanically takes for the injector to fire. As such, the colder and less pressure cause the injector to fire slower.

The part I don't completely understand is when the delay is applied. On gas engines its usually figured into the injector offset based on voltage, applying the ms delay to the end of the injection cycle to make up for the lost time it took to actually begin firing. I would expect the same thing on diesel.
