    MT82- 6R80 swap S550 code P163E

I have a code P163E for transmission control module programming error invalid checksum after performing my auto swap in my 2016 Mustang GT. PCM is a new unit from Ford. Everything in swap done as clean as OEM. Have changed all as built data to match VIN number from auto that i chose. PCM had PMI done with IDS. All data shows up properly, everything functions correctly from every module, not one code in any module except PCM with this P163E. I have everyone scratching their heads around here. Anyone have any insight? Recommendations? Thanks

    The TCM has detected an
    invalid checksum.
    • MIL ON
    • Default to 1st or 3rd
    gear
    • Maximum line pressure
    REPROGRAM the original
    PCM with the latest
    calibration. CLEAR the DTC.
    TEST the system for normal
    operation. If the DTC returns,
    INSTALL a new PCM. After
    installing the new PCM,
    PROGRAM it with the latest
    calibration and PERFORM

    Data Download. REFER to
    Solenoid Body Strategy in

Anyone else run into this? What was your solution?

The one person I know that ran in to this issue was using transmission solenoid data from a 2011-14 transmission. The computer would not accept it. I would validate what year transmission the car came from and reprogram the solenoid id and strategy.

Thank you. I spoke to the person who ran into this before... likely same guy.

We tested with a strategy from a 15-17 and same code; actually same strategy that resolved his code.

Already replaced PCM and now waiting on a new valve body to test with. Unsure if hardware or programming related, but PCM and valve body are really the only hardware pieces involved so we'll see.

The new valve body resolved code P163E.

There was no visible damage to the valve body and no other codes were being thrown.
