P0979 code
So I have worked on my tune and getting to perform well @10PSI
But since the other day I have been getting an error that puts the car in limp mode
P0979
Now immidiately I thought transmission, as it says Shift solenoid (SS) C -control circuit low
But after googling i found that its actually an engine code that might point to this
"A common cause of code P0979 is the failure of P0979 Shift Solenoid C Control Circuit Low, but there are several other possible causes as well, such as ;
"Continuous oil flow to the VCT piston chamber
Erratic camshaft position due to low oil pressure
Ignition coils circuit poor electrical connection
Dirty Oil
Anyone ever ran into this?
TIA

this is from the actual ford service manual...
p0979.jpg
is the car actually auto?
if not, disable the dtc but if that is whats actually putting it in to limp mode, just disabling the dtc wont stop the limp condition.
if its actually auto, check the wiring to the auto and the actual plugs on the auto. it can be worth unplugging the auto plugs to check for oil n dirt i the plugs then reseating them then test if the same code/limp condition occurs before fucking around with changing the solenoid in the box.

Ok so I opened the box, checked all the solenoids found an open one, replaced it and its all good
So now I can carry on tuning.
