THE GREAT DEBATE_ MAF vs SD

In Australia very seldom do we seem to tune or come across cars modified beyond exhaust and intake that still use the MAF. Nearly all cars once a camshaft or boost is added are calibrated via SD and a custom OS.

Why do so many cars in the US that are highly modified still retain a MAF.

    Pros/Cons???

Tons, it just depends on the setup.

GEN 3 computers work better in SD only for things like turbo setups or superchargers but the MAF/VE blended work great NA.

GEN 4 computers and the later card MAF sensors are some of the best, they can read tons of airflow very accurately so keeping the MAF is a great idea. Certain setups should go to SD if you have the 2 bar OS upgrade option.

ive done all the above. Pure maf, sd only, or blended. blended yields the best drivability and consistent power.
The most hated, make the most power.

I agree, the main thing in Australian scene is the the mafless tune is more like a buzz word and seems to be a hangover from the GEN3's

Can't beat a blended solution using SD with maf slot style card on the GEN4's....
