Can't open .hpt file unless a MPVI2 is connected?

Is this normal, it's asking me to plug in the mpvi2 , which I don't have, I used my buddies to read my car (Audi S4) which never read the actual ECM, it gave me a base file off the server.. ANy insight into this? Is this how we will be moving forward on the German stuff?

Yes. Depending on the vehicle type, various online services are required. This is also the compromise we made to allow tune modification and save without licensing for new manufacturers.
