Anyone have issues with support for a 2010 6R80?

Having issues reading reading a 2010 F150 & hoping it's just something I'm doing wrong. Is that 1 year not supported?

This year is unlike any ford I have ever messed with, when I went to do the initial read the trans OS & info was blank with a drop down tab to select the TCM OS. I selected the 6R80 OS and proceeded to do a read. The trans took 25 minutes to read and at the end I got a "failed to validate checksum error". I emailed support and the tech wasn't sure of what's going on and is having an engineer look at it.

The 2010 uses a unique controller that was only used for a couple years. Eric Told me it is similar to the Aussie ZF controller. Reading was enabled, but editing was never finished, last I checked.

I hope they have something figured out by now, it's the whole reason I licensed this truck, they pull a trailer with oversized tires and the shift schedule needs some adjustment.

I never figured it out, the truck I was working on would sometimes shift at the right time and sometimes not. I don't have a ford of my own to experiment with and figure this out though. Hopefully someone will eventually contribute something useful to this thread.

They just developed Beta software to support the 2010 6R80 transmission, which is what I have in my Expedition. But there appears to be a bug, as I went to flash the truck 2 days ago, and the TCM will not write, only erased. So yes, I cannot drive the truck. I emailed hp support right away, 2 days ago, and have been waiting on a reply on what to do. I tried flashing the stock tune, with the same result, ECU flashed no problem, but TCM will only erase, then fails to write.

I had issues 2 days ago with a dodge ram, & support recommended downloaded the latest beta & said there was a recent release that did fix bugs. The issue I had was similar to what you were experiencing. Since posting this I've tuned a few later model 6r80's with zero issues, could have been a bug with the earlier model support.

Thank you for the heads up WS6HUMMER. Yeah, I just checked the Beta version I have(4.7.236), and there is a newer one out now(4.7.237). I hope this will work. Need to get the truck back on the road.

Negative. Still getting a x7F Negative Response Code. It does erase the TCM, with a status bar going across, so it appears the TCM is still connected, but wont flash.

HP Support has not gotten back to me yet.

Early morning start to try and get the truck back on the road. Another beta version was put out yesterday, .629, and still wont flash the TCM. HP support has not gotten back to me and I'm at a loss here. Even the beta scanner doesn't log any info, RPM, AF, Timing, just reads DCT.

I decided to start the truck, and there's a problem with the tune also, even the stock tune which was downloaded. As soon as I start the engine, cooling fans run, idles fine, but give it a little bump in throttle, RPMs raise to around 3k and stick.

I've tuned 2 GMC Denali's and a Chevy Suburban, and this is the first time I've had any trouble.

FYI: the 2010 Expedition was originally not supported, receiving a "Failed Checksum" when trying to open the stock download file. I opened a support ticket, and after a few months support got back to me, May 1st, advising the truck transmission is now supported, as per below.

    Hello,

There is a new VCM Suite 4.7 beta update available on our website(www.hptuners.com/downloads) with support added for this application. We have added support for your transmission (6R80).

    Thank you

Here's the info file, if anyone has any thoughts on the issue with flashing the TCM. It does erase the TCM each time I try, so it appears its still communicating.

Very strange, Scanner tool worked prior to flashing, would read RPM, timing and throttle position sensor, now nothing is logging. The truck had zero issues, no warning lights/check engine light, now not even miles till empty is showing up on the dash, after flashing the ECU with the stock tune I pulled from the truck. Could this be due to the TCM not being flashed? I'm hoping a HP support person will see this and help out, as I still have not received a reply back, in 3 days, with 2 tickets I have opened.

Attached is the stock tune, I downloaded from the truck. I just noticed the OS field is blank.

Just wanted to update here. HP support finally fixed the issue flashing the TCM with a Beta Software update this morning. Support advised it was an TCM OS problem. Took 3 days, but have to say I'm relieved. Flashed the stock tune back, and now not sure I want to mess with it anymore. lol. Curious though, is there any benefit to disabling VCT?
