Both a 2001 5.3 Tahoe and a 5.3 Silverado that I tuned, were cable controlled throttles. I'll have to check my other customer's 2002 Siverado. I tuned a 2002 Silverado 8100 that was ETC. I'm sure that 2002 was the last year for throttle cables on the 4.8/5.3/6.0 engines.

I remember something about switching from ETC to a throttle cable OS. in LS1 Edit. I wouldn't flash an F-Body file to a truck!

Depends on the PCM part number what you can flash into it.

If it's a 1999-2000 truck PCM you can just put in a 99-00 truck file and your good to go. 01-02 truck and car (F-body)have the same PCM AFAIK. 2001 truck has cable throttle on 5.3L IIRC. Can't remember if 2002 has cable or ETC.

I take it that you don't want the TAC module and pedal position mishmash in your truck. You can use the F-body cal if you rework the wiring for a cable throttle application.

I just ordered HP Tuners and am doing some research here before it arrives.

I have a 2003 LM7 5.3 from a truck with a 1998 Corvette PCM and 1998 F-body harness. Due to my swap (Supra) I had to use F-body intake, throttle body, MAF, sensors, and accessories.

I did a scan on the setup after checking all wiring, and got (only) a P1518 code. Apparently, this has something to do with the ETC, which the Vette had but my motor does not have.

If I write a '98 F-body file to the PCM, will this take care of my issue since the PCMs are the same part number?

I'll be using similar stuff in my next (RX7) swap, so I'll only need to ask this once .

    Thanks for any help.

yeah you'd probably need to do a full write with an fbody file...make sure your computer, cables, batt voltage is up to snuf before you do so...the 98 setups are finicky.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...
