    Dyno Tuning a 2012 Silverado, how to lock in 4th gear?

    How are you guys dyno tuning these Silverados? i can lock the converter, command 4th gear but it will always downshift into 3rd gear even if i ease into it.

    I'm trying to see where i'm at horsepower and torque wise. i can only make a pull in 3rd gear without it downshifting by easing into WOT.
    Yes i'm using manual mode.

    Set all of the 4-3 downshift numbers to a small value, like 5mph. There are several tables.
    See if that works.
    Had to do this on a 2010 Camaro because the paddle shifters are broken....

    This worked like a charm thanks. Don't know why i didn't think of it.

    but
    A: I thought running transmission hard in overdrive was bad
    B: why would you want to dyno in overdrive


    Oh your 4th must be 1:1 ... ?

    leave it in third unless you A: like chucking driveshafts, or B: have a built shaft that can handle the rpm.

    6L80 is 1.15:1 in 4th.
    I?m seeing 140 mph at 6000
    Of course I?m working on a turbocharged Camaro. Not a truck.
    3rd for me would be worthless

    Driveshaft isn't going anywhere. This truck has a cam and supercharger pushing 6200 rpm making 400 rwtq and 410 rwhp in 4th gear. 7 psi boost

    Has nothing to do with power you are putting to the rear wheels, it's all about the driveshafts critical speed.
