    start up idle flare

Hey guess. I have a 2007 Magnum 6.1 with a magnuson blower and a hellcat t-body. I have a small issue on start up. When the engine fires up warm, I get a quick 1400 rpm flare, then motor stumbles to about 500 rpm before settling to my base idle of 680 rpm. Cold start give me a nice long 1400 high idle that gradually settles to base idle. What table effects how long the start up high idle sticks around before settling to base idle?

Yeah I tried to update my software but that table doesn't exist in my tune. Maybe HP can open it up for me..

It could be a cranking fuel or startup airflow issue also.

Cut down the second and third row of your AIRFLOW>ELECTRONIC THROTTLE>Throttle Body Model>Airflow by 30%, see if it helps (youre tricking your PCM into thinking your throttle body is SMALLER, and so it should open MORE to give the same desired airflow youre already asking for).

If that doesn't help, try adding a LITTLE more fuel to the FUEL>GENERAL>Startup Inj PW>Startup Base. I would add 5% (then 5% more if it doesn't change it) to all non-zero cells from 32* column over to 266* column. This should give it a little more "dump" of fuel at initial fire up that once the rpms come down is still sitting on the back of the intake valve and keep it from dipping so low.

You need more airflow or more fuel. If neither of the above work, you can still command a higher RPM at idle by run time:

    Use the ENGINE>IDLE>RPM>Idle Adders>P/N table.

Rescale the top of the run time (in seconds) to be 0.00, 5.00, 10.00, 20.00, 45.00

Set the columns top to bottom to as follows: 350, 275, 200, 75, 0

Just remember these values get added ON TOP of all other idle rpm tables. Looks like in most P/N you are asking for it to idle at 1080 or so cold, then 680 warm. So with the table settings I gave, cold should idle 1300 down to 750 by 20 seconds. If the car is warm, should start out around 1050 and idle down to 680 by 20 seconds. You can play around with what works.

Hope that helps, be sure to report back with some lOGS, esp the commanded idle speed and fuel trims.

Thanks Guys. I will try this stuff out tonight.

So Making so good progress. The idle flare up is great now. I do want to do a few more cold starts before I declare victory. I see that my short terms are pulling fuel before the car settles down. I think the close loop time needs to be extended a bit.
