    New 6.4 cam idle tuning

I had a collapsed lifter and wiped my cam so I had it replaced with same cam. Now it surges at low speed especially when coming to a stop. It sometimes dips below 500 rpms then shakes back up to 700-750 range. I?ve tried raising the idle but it still drops down when coming to a stop. I don?t get how my tune would need to be changed when it?s the same setup.

If you replaced the cam with the same thing. I would start looking at a mechanical issue, problem with the install, etc.

Post a log of the problem.

It runs fine until operation temp then it dies if I try to throw it in reverse. Runs good when I get on it. I just don?t understand

Is the "same cam" stock or the same aftermarket one you had before. Whats the info on the cam?

If it is a stock cam, what kind of vacuum are you seeing at idle? Also are you sure the intake manifold is seated/torqued down properly and PCV/EVAP hoses connected and in good shape?

Dejuan, I've been troubleshooting this on a 2012 Charger that got my own cam and heads. I assumed the same idle, airflow, and Electric Throttle settings from my Challenger, would be a good starting point (car has same intake, same heads, same cam, same headers). Well it wasn't. I got surging just as you described. I finally went back to another tune from July of 2016 when I tuned another cammed NA Charger and verified on that scan that he had stable idle. I copied all of those idle, airflow, and Electric Throttle settings and boom.. it's a night and day difference.

I'm going to send you this file so you can do a compare on this tune and try this combo. Be sure to go table by table and make sure they are the same, even lowering your idle RPMs back down. The cam is very similar to yours so it should get you in the ballpark.

Problem seems to be when I run it hard. My exhaust changes sounds weaker and soon as I try to reverse it dies.

Can you post the tune please? Im having the same issue with a 6.4 in a Jeep SRT. I deleted MDS and added a Texas speed stage 2 cam 218/226 duration at 50. Same hunting idle issue and dying on deceleration to idle.
