I tried to connect my MPVI2 to my iphone 7 so I can use it with Track Addict but the phone doesn't see the MPVI2. My laptop sees and connects to the MPVI2 through Bluetooth no problem.

I'd recommend asking track addict related questions in that section of the forum.

I was told by a Rep and the Off Road Expo in Louisville KY that IPhone will work with MPVI2.
I'm on the hunt for a good Android device and posted in the Track Addict part of the forum but nobody is giving me a recommendation ;(
I'm just using a $99 clearanced moto g4, works well enough for what I need.

I already have an iPhone on a cellular service so to get GPS, I will have to use an actual GPS and not the cellular service imitation GPS
The iPhone/iPad works with Apple authorized accessories that has passed the MFI program. There are a couple ELM327 OBD units that are IOS compatible. Also, Dual makes an IOS compatible GPS unit that polls at 10Hz. The IOS app developers can only work with Apple certified devices. Good and bad...
I hope it may be worth the resources to have the MPVI2 certified for IOS. Would like to ditch my other OBD unit for this one.
