    Short powerglide VSS

I am using a short powerglide in a rear engine dragster. I am using a 2000 Chevy Truck PCM. I would like to record output shaft speed.
Any ideas on mounting a speed sensor. I was thinking something on the rear end. (Ford 9") There is no driveshaft, just a coupler. The coupler is round about 3" diameter I was thinking a tone ring from a CV joint and using a wheelspeed sensor.
    What do you think?

I know this was a long time ago, but, I would try mounting an ABS wheel speed sensor ring on the trans to rear end couple then putting a 5V sensor on the out side edge of the wheel. hook the out put of the 5V sensor to the VSS wire on the computer.
