E67 with an L61(06 Ion)

We were planning on using a 2.2 out of an o6 Ion in a "stand alone" project vehicle. It appears as HPTuners doesn't support the 2.2 from an 06, is this true? Can we use the E67 ecm out of a later model ion with the older engine? For now we just need to bypass the VATS (Anti-theft lock)from the ecu, later we will want to tune the engine.
Would we be better off just finding a 2.4.
