I have set up a few of them and they all work very well. By looking at the logs you would never know it's serial to usb converted. For me the trick was a good adapter and of course the correct settings within windows 10 and HPT correct PID. I use the AEM kit without a gauge.

I don't remember the exact brand but I'm pretty sure it's the same brand that goat rope is recommending.

Do you have the instruction manual? Did you make sure the baud rate is correct for your serial port in your lap top PC? If not see page 7 of the AEM instruction manual.

    Can I go from MPVI2 to MPVI3?

My SC3800 (1997) 85 Fiero is already wired for an AEM Wideband using serial USB.

AFR would read via the meter plus show on the laptop as an extra gauge when everything was hooked up.

My old MPVI2 is back in the US with my son. I work overseas.

Will a new MPVI3 with credits replace it directly without having to rewire for the prolink?

That sounds like a question for HPT, I don't know the answer.

All the really need is a serial device picker with baud and alike, but nope..
So is this the consensus for this issue? I checked and updated everything on mine and I still have this problem. My setup used to get this issue rarely but now it's gottenso bad I can get my wideband to work at all.

Serial based inputs are something we will not be improving. It works for some, but problematic for others.

CAN based inputs are the recommended path today.

Serial based inputs were a nice idea to avoid voltage offsets before CAN based inputs became a thing.

I use the Innovate MTX-L Plus using serial to USB adapter. Worked great for several years. now it will not connect. It shows up in the pid list but goes away as soon as the logging starts. I can however use the Innovate software to log but that's not very convenient. So what are we supposed to do? Spend more money in HP tuners hardware?

On mine I ended up using a small usb hub so that the MPVI and the Serial to usb adapter used the same port on the computer, never had another issue with it not showing up.

That sounds like a cable or port issue. The same thing happens if I forget to plug my WBO2 USB cable in.

I did try an usb hub today. No luck. I have been able to log the afr with the wideband software however, so my serial to usb must be working just fine.
    This drives me nuts.

I know I'm asking dumb questions probably, but did you recreate the pid after the installing the hub? And what version of Windows are you using?

You ain't wrong though, logically you'd think if one software could see it then the other should. But i'm guessing they request info diffrently.
