No Access to Cable: New Credits for New Hardware?

    Tried to shorten the title...

My car is tuned through HPT. I no longer have access to the original cable I used to tune my car. Do I need to buy (4) additional credits just to use the MPVI2 or a different cable to adjust my tune? Or, can I use the MPVI2/other cable to adjust the tune without having to buy more credits.

Reason for this question is I have heard mixed opinions. I have heard from 2 people that the credits lock to the cable used, and in order to adjust the tune, I need a new cable AND new credits again. My other buddy says he has used his cable for multiple vehicles but his experience is on older LS's so I am not sure where to go except here.

    Thanks in advance

credits/licenses are linked to a specific cable, so wherever the cable goes so does the license. If you no longer have access to the original cable, yes you'd need to purchase credits in order to tune the vehicle on the "new" cable.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...
