Master enable/disable for Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor

Something I have been curious for a while. Why is this switch disabled on most every Coyote strategy?

[ECM] 2018 - ECT Sensor: Master enable/disable for Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor.

We obviously to have an ECT.

I don?t the the coyotes have a coolant temp sensor. It?s listed as 5.4/5.8 only on the ecu pinout.

Maybe it just pushes the functions to look at a different PCM pin.

Coyotes obviously have an ECT sensor. (ASSumtions )

ECT is a calculated value based on the cylinder head temp sensor

Wow, looks like you are right!

I am surprised that they are inferring ECT.

For whatever reason i had the same switch option for a 06 4.6 and setting it up to enable turned off the temp gauge inside cluster. Setting it back to disable and the gauge works.

So many things are inferred on this engine... I don't know whether to be happy or sad lol.

Like previously posted, ECT is inferred based on CHT...there is no actual sensor in the coolant stream

They used the 5.4 across their Spanish Oak and copperhead ECMs, so they carried over the sensor from 07-10 into 11+ copperheads. Coyotes came out in MY 11', so they always ran copperhead, thus, never needed a EGT sensor since they inferred it
