updated to 4.2.1, now scanner won't connect

Like it says, after the update the scanner won't connect, it puts up an alert saying it can't validate (don't recall the exact message) after it's started reading info from the PCM. Prior to this I had uploaded a new calibration using the 4.2.1 version of the editor, that seemed to work OK and the car still works. Nothing about the app key. The previous version I've been using is 3.6.26. Same car and everything else, checked all connections, tried multiple times.

This is on windows 8.1.

Also this is the 1-bar custom OS, if that matters, which I've been using for awhile.

OK I tried the suggestion from a thread right above - went to the program files folder, set the Properties (right-click) for the scanner program file, to "windows 8 compatability" mode, and "execute as Administrator" - that fixed it! (at least so far, it now connects).
