Thread: Help with base startup tune for ProCharger D1X

Question Help with base startup tune for ProCharger D1X

Car is a 2010 Camaro SS with 6L80E.

I need help building a base tune to get the car starting, idling and driving so I can log drives and tune from there.

Car was tuned for a n/a setup before the blower with 93 pump and E85 via DSX E85 flex sensor.

    Mods are:

    Circle D Specialties GM 278mm 6L80 3200-3400 RPM 2B Torque Converter
Kooks Ceramic Coated Signature Series 1-3/4 to 1-7/8 Stepped Headers Part #22502300
Kooks full 3in exhaust with race cats Part #22505201 (Currently with Off Road Catless Pipes)
Trick Flow GenX 255's #TFS-3261T004-C01 (With Polished PAC .660's and Ti-Retainers)
Texas Speed VVT 3.2 cam kit & DOD Delete with Comp Cams VCT Limiter
Texas Speed 1.72:1 Ratio LS3 Steel Roller Rocker Arm Set w/ Roller Tip
AEM X-Series OBDII Wideband Gauges (PN#30-0333)
AEM stainless-steel tall wideband UEGO sensor bungs (30-4008-4PK)
    Fuel Injector Clinic ID850 Injectors
GM Camaro ZL1 High Output Fuel Pump
DSX Tuning Flex Fuel Kit + E85
DSX Tuning Auxiliary Fuel Pump Kit
    Mishimoto Oil Catch Can
    Holley Tall LS Valve Covers
    JRE 6L80E Trans Dipstick kit
NGK Iridium IX spark plugs #7 heat range
    Stage II ProCharger D1X
    HP Tuners VCM Suite

    Mods removed for ProCharger install:

    Cold Air Inductions CAI
    JRE CAI Scoop
    RotoFab Washer Bottle Relocation Kit

What should my timing be at? A little less than a stock 5th Gen Camaro ZL1 base to start?

I know they have lower CR so I'd probably need to start slightly lower than stock ZL1?

Is there a base % fuel to add to get me close?

    Thanks!

ZL1's are tuned HOT. Like 24 degrees of timing, thats a lot..

I'd say closer to 14 degrees.

How much boost are you planning to run?

EDIT: FYI, when I installed my centri kit, I didnt touch the tune (besides dropping in the injector data), and it ran great all the way to the tuner. Of course it was already tuned for my cam and bolt-ons before the blower, and I didnt get into boost.

Are you planning on tuning it yourself?

I'm already tuned pretty good with my current n/a mods.

    The goal is...

I want to tune as much as I can myself so I can safely drive it to the tuner and let them fine tune everything to perfection.

    I'm on a 4.5" pulley with the D1X and I rev to 6,800.

I have no clue as to what the actual boost will be because I run TFS GenX 255 heads, TSP VVT 3.2 cam, etc., but I told them I wanted to start around 9lbs and that is what they sent me.

As long as you aren't changing injectors, and you stay out of boost, I think you will be fine. Just dont get into boost.

4.5 inch pulley sounds huge. Did you tell ProCharger you have a cam/heads/headers/exhaust when you placed your order?

I told them I wanted 9psi and that I rev to 6,800 with my cam.

Pretty sure I mentioned heads, exhaust, etc.

I think stock shifts on the L99 / A6 were like 6,200 rpm's and the base kits say 7 to 7.5 psi. So maybe they went by the extra rpm and put that big pulley on.

I'm going to go by rwhp. Whatever pulley it takes to make about 650-700 rwhp is about where I want to start out.

I'm just saying that it's very common to see guys get to the dyno thinking they will make 9psi, and only make 4.5psi because they didnt communicate their mods with the supplier. Sucks to pay for the tune twice. Its worth a phone call.

I agree... I usually tell people if they are in doubt bring a few different pulleys. If you buy used you can sell them for about what you pay for them.
