2017 vs 2018 f150 advance rate
I was comparing the 2017 ford f150 5.0 Max advance rate for the exhaust cam is 172 degrees vs 250 degrees for the 2018
the IVO is also changed from 239 degrees for the 17, and 620 degrees for the 18.
Any idea as to why? Different camshafts?
thanks guys

What engine? Coyote? If so then yes - different cams and different cam timing as well.
Regarding Mustang : it seems that Ford went with 360 degrees more separation between banks with gen 2 compared to gen 1. However in gen 3 they went back with timing similar to gen 1. Not sure why tho.
What's going on with F150 tho...only Ford knows...

yes, the post mentions "5.0" not sure if theres another engine with that displacement other than the coyote.
I dont care about the mustang as of right now, just the f150. 360 degrees more separation? that doesn't sound right. Is it possible that they are referencing a different valve event, i.e. IVC OR IVO, or maybe EVC OR EVO? that is a big swing in degree.

No, not the lobe separation, bank to bank separation...
1st gen - 1 crank rpm/360' covers the both banks valvetrain
2nd gen - 2 crank rpm's/720' covers the both banks valvetrain
3rd gen - same as 1st gen
That's why you see a difference in tunes - which isn't something you cannot change.

Can someone explain what this topic is about and how it relates to differences between a gen 1, 2, 3 coyote?
Does this have to do with balancing the valve trains on each side of the engine? I tried to google it but it keeps showing stuff about 'banks' LOL.

4 cycle engine has 720 degrees crank rotation for 306 degrees of camshaft.
