Thats not it. Does this cam have a lockout so that it doesn't move?
here is the tune3-3-20 BBA_G5MAF_v15 10-1-20 final.hpt
Yes 0% lock out
It seems the original tuner increased the SOI Base by around 3% or 4% across the board.
Is there a good thread or video I can watch to learn more about the SOI tuning?????
Aftermarket Cams open the intake valves sooner so increasing SOI makes sense. Search the forums for SOI and start reading, there is information out there. Don't focus on SOI and think that is your reason for knock retard just because I said it was possible. These motors sometimes have knock when there really is no knock. What does your tuner say?
Well not much
between him tellIng me he wasn?t really comfortable with GenV stuff in the beginning and leaving the PE stock. Plus a few other things I decided to try to learn everything I could on this stuff.
When I got my headers and wideband after I already had him tune for the cam. He did offer much assistance when I sent him the tune back as I was trying to dial in the WOT with the wideband.
He had a great turn around time and customer service at first. So I can?t really say anything bad.
I ended up going back and making the spark 20 degrees in WOT areas and really smooth it out. I had it a 22 to 23 and it wasn't that smooth from when I tuned for knock it created some jagged edges. Last two WOT logs showed 0 knock.
To me 20 degrees seems low for a full bolt-on cam and heads 6.2. But the truck runs real good at 20 degrees so I'll leave it there.
Timing all depends on cylinder pressures. Your setup might like 20 degrees.
These engines dont want much over 20 degrees. I know of some tuners who dont even add timing. Gm didnt leave a ton of power on the table on the Gen V's.
