There really isn't too much to tuning these things...they are MAF based cars, so it is just two tables (dual MAFs) that really control the base fuel + a bunch of tables that will modify it. They seem to like to run around 12.6-12.8 AFR at WOT.

If you increase the timing (and you can), make sure you verify that you are getting what you command. I've seen many folks that have modified timing tables, but they aren't getting anywhere close to what they are asking due to torque management stepping in.

Other than that, don't mess with anything throttle response related - there are some torque calcs done by the PCM that you can't alter, and if you cross a threshold by trying to get the throttle bodies to open faster, it'll throw the car into limp mode.

The biggest issue you'll run into with the Gen 5 is trying to get one that for sure doesn't have engine problems. It's a craps shoot with that one, so do your best to find a well cared for example.

Nobody knows the exact percentage on engines that have had to be replaced, but it is significant. If you search for R28/R29 recall, you should find some good reading. It is a block casting issue that is unique to the Gen 5 since they switched suppliers...apparently, they didn't clean them well enough after the casting, and that debris ended up in places that it shouldn't have been. It's pretty telling when a guy in the Viper performance biz ends up buying all of the left over Gen 4 blocks to put into storage, I'm sure waiting for the rainy day when he can gouge those in need down the road.
