4.6 2v with aftermarket cams, anyone done one?

Have a customer that?s in the process of finishing his motor install in his 10 f150, he had a 5.1 stroker built and some aftermarket cams which he gave me the part number to look up the specs. How easy or hard is it to tune for aftermarket cams in these?

They aren't really that bad. Just make sure you get the VCT data from the cam manufacturer. Spend time with your idle air flow tables and tune them using STIT.

Not bad at all, just do the normal MAF tuning and then make sure you go back and recalibrate the "Load w/failed MAF" table based on steady state dyno measurements at constant speed. Doing that will smooth out a ton of the little hiccups you would normally get. If you want to see a demo of the process, you can check out our Ford Tuning DVD where we updated this table on a supercharged 3V, but the process is identical for the older 2V engines.
