99 4.8 into a c10 OS question

Hi

I am putting a 99 4.8 into a c10. I have HPtuner and I read to make the electric fans work I need to swap the OS to a 2002 12212156 OS. Can I save the tune, swap the OS and put the stock tune back and then enable the fans in it? since the engine is stock I expect minimal tuning needed. But if I have to swap in another tune I will need to manually copy all the tables from the stock tune in correct? I prefer scenario 1 if it is possible.

You can try making the fans work with the stock OS you have currently. I have had some 99/00 computers work just fine, but others I had to upgrade to a 2002 OS.

If you have to update to a 2002 OS, yes you would be copying your current tune from one file to the other. If you can find that OS for a 2002 4.8 you can use that and just do your normal tuning from there.
