Hp tuners MPVI2 with AEM Wideband 30-0334

How do I use the serial port with this wide band? Needing to tune a gen 3 ecu.

Brand new to wide bands so go easy. The gentleman I would usually ask passed away earlier this year. Rest his soul. Greatest tuner around. Ed Morton. Could some assist me?

That AEM unit doesn't actually have a serial port on it. What you'll need to do is get a HP prolink and wire one of the analog inputs to the gauge and ground. You'll also need the pro feature set for all this to work

Or wire the wideband into a 5v circuit on the computer like a lot of people do. Most use the EGR circuit and create a custom channel to log it.

If you don't post your tune and logs when you have questions you aren't helping yourself.

    Use the 5v analog +/-

Look in the directions youll need two pins to wire it in.

So it?s an analog signal? The whole reason I bought this wide band is because it says it works with serial.

After reading, I learned it does have serial output which connects to the analog 2 wire on the pro link from the gauge but the gauge takes a very special connector pin that is not included with the kit. What in the world ?

To populate optional extras, use P/N: SPUD-001T-P0.5 terminals for 22-26 AWG wire.

I saw that but where am I supposed to get something like that?? I saw a guy re-pin it and snip the obd2 connector off but I?d like to have the option of either serial or obd. Trying to find something around the house with those pins in it haha

That's what i did bc i dont have any vehicles that can use it. Youll most likely have to order online.

I bought 100 of those pins recently, and it was cheap for the pins but shipping was a little expensive. The place that has them is Digi-Key. Part number is 455-2518-1-ND

    Possible solution.

I just finished a new firmware mod for the 30-0334 that makes the serial data line usable. It increases the polling interval to 20ms and, adds an extra full digit of resolution. If you want to send you gauge in for a re-flash, i'll throw in a few of the connector pins; so you can add all of the function wires to the harness.

    Hey Dr Mike.
Any tips with trying to get my AEM 30-0300 to read with a RS232 serial, the channel drops as soon as I start scanning.
    Thanks.

My Fault, I just realised that I pined the serial port as a male plug when it is a female plug.
Amazingly Now it works like it should.
