OS 12212156 Evap P1665 reoccurring Fault

My issue revolves around a reoccurring fault code P1665 that is tied to the use of the operating system 12212156 that is running the 5.7 Vortec V8 in my 2002 GMC Astro Van

My interest in resolving this issues is I need the ODB2 monitors to function like a factory installed V8 in a similar chassis so I can pass the states emissions test procedure.

So, eliminating the fault code from the engines self-diagnostic fault codes is not an option, and since it is an emissions issue, it needs to function.
Here is what I have tried and what I have learned to this point.

P1665 relates to the tank vent valve under the van by the tank and has 2 wires, pink which is 12V power and Green/White to the PCM under C2 pin 34 where the PCM grounds the wire to activate the vent valve solenoid. This valve worked properly when the V6 was in the van and running OS 12212156.

the new V8 has an EGR system which the 2002 V6 did not have, so the OS is different somewhere in its code, I suspect.

I have done segment swaps on a dozen available tunes running OS 12212156 in search of an OS that operates all of the emissions equipment that is on the V8. I've tried 2001 Savana, 2002 Savana, 2002 Express, and a few modified tunes that Ive picked up from the forum and other sites.

I finally found one that has the name "CHRIS 350 0411" which I don't know where I got it from but is has all the right emission system monitors active, although most are set to test complete immediately after clearing codes such as the P1665. I assume the person that modified this OS modified it this way, a minor issue for me at this time although I would like them to function properly at some point in the future.

So now my issue is how do I modify the OS 12212156 to properly activate and monitor the electronic component in the computer to run the EVAP vent valve and not throw the fault code? This as well as modify the OS to allow for the other emissions related self-test to operate properly?

Im know nothing about coding, but I ive been able to get this far on luck and google.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Unfortunately It looks like I cant attach the tunes at this time.

    Thank you

I just looked through a half dozen GEN3 OE files including a couple of the same OS and that code is set to no error reported in all of them.

This is right off the repository.

Time to check the pinouts for the fuel level sensor, check to see if it operates in reverse, (that can be changed) and of course perform the diag to see if you have a bad sender, wire, or connecter.

    Good Morning

I am was able to find a file with an OS version of 12212156 that has all of the monitors showing incomplete. I loaded it and was happy until I checked the fault codes and P1665 was set.
My fuel gauge is working properly and I've checked the function of the tank Vent with HP Tuner output test function with the scanner.

Almost there. If there was a way to checked the OS or set P1665 to not set at the OS level.

Ill try that file that is posted above and see if that does it.

    Thank you

OK, just tried that file and swapped over the OS and unfortunately the EGR system is not supported.

Unfortunately, I need this enabled/supported so the PCM goes through its self-checks.

Since this is an engine swap Ill need to go to a referee station which will involve a full function test of all the monitors.

Thank you, back to checking OS's

Well I got it working properly and all monitors are showing incomplete after clearing fault code memory, no P1665 fault code appeared and EGR completed its self-test.

For the benefit of the forum. I went through 15 different variations of the same OS 12212156 from a bunch of bin files found on the forum.

the one that worked was from a 2001 S-10 which has EGR and all the other emissions equipment.

    Happy Day.

A bit of an update. Monitors are working as they should but now the PRNDL indicator quit working.

Any ideas? I think its in the OS so Im going to look for an OS from a 2001 S-10 that might work.

    till next time
