    2004 GTO 4L80E Segment swap????

Has Hptuners figured this out yet? I'm looking at this harness that Speartech offers http://www.speartech.com/product_p/4l80eaddon.htm.

Talking to Speartech they said Hptuners has a segment for ls cars but didn't know if they can do one for the GTO.

This specific topic was recently discussed in the thread below ...

    http://www.hptuners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=42070

There is no available 4L80 segment to swap into the 2004 GTO OS.

    Corvette - no problem.
    Full-size truck / SUV / Van / S10 - no problem.
GTO - a segment swap is not an option (as one does not exist).

Guessing you used Tunercat to change the transmission type in the GTO tune - not the same process as a segment swap.

EFILive doesn't seem to mind these changes. HPT will often display a "could not parse file" error when trying to open a tune file so modified, and in *.bin format.

I am not the guy who converted it. I have had it for several years, but have never had occasion to use it. If I recall correctly it was done by someone in Australia. I can flash this tune, I can read this tune and I can alter this tune. I have bench flashed it into a 12586242 PCM with Tunercat and then read it out in EFILive. It shows up as a 4L80 and shows the correct trans gear ratios so I am thinking it is legit. Anyone is welcome to try it out if they want.

Sounds like someone did a segment swap in hex. I'd like to look at it if you wanna email it to me. I've got both EFIlive and TC, so whichever you wanna send would be fine.

Ended up getting my TCI TCU box to work. I was exploring other options. However it is good to know it seems someone has made a swap but not hptuners

O and Travis's GTO is a 05. Funny thing is this is Travis's old TCI box lol.

What data? No files have been posted.

If someone sent me one I could store it for future use.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

Bill, I will send it to you shortly. I don't have it in HPT format. I have it in Tunercat and EFILive. I HAVE NEVER used it but, I believe it to be legit. It would be great if someone could use/verify that it is a valid tune before it gets spread around.

The only formats I can work with are .hpt or straight binary.

I can flash an extra PCM with Tunercat. Let me see if I can find someone around me that can pull it in HPT.

OP... Are you trying to do a 4L80 in a 05/06 GTO? If that's the case, there's no segment swapping. You just need the 4L80's controller hooked up with a transmission calibration already on it, then read the file out of the car. The transmission controller has it's own file as opposed to the 04 GTO where it's all done in the PCM.

Yeah, not much we can do with efi or tunercat format files.

email sent Bill. Came across a file that appears to have some sort of different transmission and transmission diagnostic OS from all of the 60E tune files I have. See what you think of it.

I looked at the trans segment and trans diagnostic segment in binary and they are the same identical length in both the GTO and 2004 Truck O/S that is one digit different

    Truck OS 12587603
    GTO OS 12587604

So I copied the two segments into the gto file, programmed a PCM, then read it back ... One in Binary, one with HP Tuners. I also used EFI Live and TC OBD2, but even in a .zip file this forum would not let me upload those.

    Binary
    HP Tuners

This is UNTESTED, but I don't see why it won't work. The GTO file is otherwise stock, so make necessary adjustments....

Sorry for bringing this back from the dead... but did the above file work?? I just downloaded, and it seems like the only file possible to use for a 4l80 swap in an 04 gto... THanks
