    TCM read erro loc 64800

Was doing the first full read of the system and received the error TCM read error loc 64800, thus the read fails.

This is on a 2003 LB7 Duramax and Allison combo.

I had this happen to me recently with an 07 cobalt because of the separate pcm/tcm...what you'll need to do is send an info log of the vehicle to support@ hptuners dot com and they'll probably give you a new beta version to try....a screenshot wouldnt be bad either

    Thanks

Sounds like something is not keeping quiet during the read/write process.
Try pulling the radio fuse and see if it goes away.

I had removed the onstar, I will try the radio fuse and see if that changes things.

I have verified that all the drivers are the main drivers and not the XP drivers. I have tried two different laptops and same issue on both. Errors out at around 64800 when reading the TCM each time. High speed, low speed, have gone through the truck top to bottom and pulled and reseated every connector I can find and still same issue.

I can read my buddies grandprix no problem.

When attempting to scan, seems I can scan everything except no transmission stuff, not sure if that was by design or something weird with mine.

After it fails, I need to remove and reconnect the USB cable for it to read the VCM again.

Half the time it seems to error out when attempting to setup security to the TCM, the other half it errors out at 64800.

I have 4 cables in the diagnostics port underneath the dash.

Truck is stock except bed rug, bed cover, side steps, new tires and radar detector.

I believe I have checked every fuse and all are good. I have removed radio, radio amp, and info fuse and also left them in, same issue no matter what.

I have reloaded the USB drivers off the CD, making sure that they are the standard drivers and not the 64bit drivers, I have reloaded the software from scratch.

I have undone the batteries for an hour and reconnected and same issue.

I am at a total loss.

Please review my PM and email to all of you with my phone number, any help would be appreciated.

OK, with a third laptop we were had two failures and two reads. I left my laptop on and connected to the truck for several minutes before I attempted any read of the truck and was finally able to get a successfull read. For some reason it seems the computer needs to be connected to the truck for several minutes before we are able to get a successfull read of the truck. On two of the fails, one was on the initial communication with the TCM and the other was at the standard 64800 location previously experienced.

I sent the current file from the truck into you all, the only change was to the speed limiter for testing of the write.

Any insite you all could provide would be greatly appreciated.

JC, when you say the truck is "stock", you men the PCM has never been tuned, and you do not have any LB7 controller hooked in like the EDGE or any other tuning products right?

The reason I asked is that I did recieve the same error when I first read the TCM with the EDGE/ATTITUDE still plugged in on my 2004.5 LLY. Once I uplugged that its fine for full reads and full writes.

Another possibiliity might be an electric brake controller for a trailer. I was OK with my Prodigy controller plugged in during writes and reads but I suppose a controller could be on the comms bus at key on.
