Is there fuel economy by changing cam timing at part throttle

Before I go down this rabbit hole has anyone found power or fuel efficiency gains.

Looking for more low end torque and throttle response. I do not have an eddy current dyno so will have to do this by seat of the pants and a test loop.

My theory is Ford timed the part throttle cams for emissions and not drivability.

    Thanks for any help
