Thread: Is there a E38 2.5 or 3 bar Custom OS?

Is there a E38 2.5 or 3 bar Custom OS?

Fellas, I have a LS swap oldie time car that currently uses the E38 from the 09' Silverado it came out of. No BCM etc, just engine and tranny (6L80E). I'm boosting more than 2 bar and I'm trying to find out of there is a E38 ECU out there that will allow me to upgrade to a custom 2.5 or 3 bar OS? So far I found the 2010 Camaro (I'be been doing the repository download roulette) had a 2 bar option but I have not been able to find a 2.5 or 3.

Edit: To clarify. I'm looking to buy a new E38 and replace my current one.

    Thanks!

most e38 should do 2.5bar using the VE if it has the option, the 2 bar SD option maxes out to 2.5 bar

Current ECU doesn't support 2 bar custom OS so I'm running VVE SD only. I'd love to be able to use MAF and control the fans with the 170 Thermostat better. So a 2 bar Custom OS actually can do 2.5 bar? If so I'll just buy a 2010 Camaro ECU on Ebay and call it a day.

You'll need to make sure the new ECM OS will talk to your TCM OS properly as well.

The E38 can run 2.5Bar from GM, just have to use the VVE vs an Enhanced OS. 07GTS is correct that the E38/E67 Enhanced OSs are 2.5Bar (255kPa).

Yeah, 2 bar is the only option if the computer had one but it can be made to all the way to 255kpa.

The stock VVE editor allows for 3 bar and you can still run the MAF sensor in whatever size tube you want to keep resolution.

I don't really see a need to switch computer when the computer you have can already support 3 bar VVE and the MAF sensor.

I was under the impression that it had a 512 g/s airflow limit. I just doublechecked and it looks like its 4000. Sounds like I'm gonna be fine with leaving it as is. Thanks guys! Sucks about the fan control though.

Do you have to swap to a 2-3 bar map sensor to be able to use the VVE past 1 bar?

Just curious, how will he solve the BARO update issue on an e38 with a non-patched OS?

I’d like to know as well, other than zero (1) out the chart in the top range and stay out of the mountains...

I ended up buying a 2010 2011 Corvette ECU. I'm taking a gamble on if that ECU (T43 controller too) will work with the A6 the Silverado had but no one knows if this will work, not even hptuners support. I'll report back so maybe someone else can use this info some day. Gen IV swaps where you want Custom OS can't be THAT uncommon.

The ECU I bought on ebay ended up being a Silverado ECU, not as advertised. I ended up flashing it to the same Vin as my current ECU as a spare via TIS2Web. I just re-installed the narrowbands, tuned the MAF and run GM blended mode as of today. Learning to set RPM zones for the VVE helped me make a better VVE table where it counts.
