So, I've never delved into any portion of ECU swapping of any kind.
Friend has a '07 Hybrid. Which of course the hybrid system died on a very low mileage truck. Swapped over needed components. Vehicle runs and drives.
Check engine light looking for a couple of the hybrid powertrain modules.
What are our options? He has a spare 4.8 ECU from an '05 Silverado.
HPT doesn't communicate with the Hybrid ECU unfortunately.
I should mention we are trying to just run the truck like an OE 5.3 gas vehicle. Boost later.
So just wondering what the normal proceedure is here.
Plug in 4.8 ECU to get power.
Attempt to read (Would not read standard 5.3 ECU properly)
Purchase credits for the 4.8 ECU - Disable VATS
Then do I try and write entire a 5.3 Non-hybrid ECU File to the 4.8 ECU from repository?
How does the VIN setup work?
This ECU of course will not look for the Hybrid modules, but emissions scan will still look for them Vs. the VIN? Or no?
