Locking up the converter on dyno good or bad?

Guys I’m giving some pulls on my 2008 Silverado on around 14 lbs Of boost, I have read locking up the converter can cause something to break. Or will it be at a horsepower level its not recommendable to lock the converter?

If its a triple disk, its designed to lock, if its a single disk lockup, dont do it

Unless you ask yank that question. Every time I've asked them about a random customers converter if they didn't know what they actually had, they basically recommend not locking any of their stuff at wot for 6l80 or 8l90 stuff...

key there is if you dont know what you have best to leave it unlocked.
The only one you can lock under power is the triple disk which is designed for this specifically

Well what I'm saying is I've called yank with customer names and order numbers, come back telling me it's a triple and I shouldn't lock it. Surprising answer really.

Also had a buddy with a pas 3400 triple and they told him not to lock either.

    Circle D for me lol

So why have a triple disk if you cannot lock it under power?

I thought that was the whole idea of a triple disk!!!

I agree with you whole heartedly, which is why I was taken aback by the answers I received.
