    Whipple Equipped Users, Advice Needed

    Good morning!

I'm needing some advice from Whipple equipped users. So my issue is that my current OS is not fully supported by HP Tuners, that being I do have access to some basic PID's, but I cannot see knock retard/MCT or some other pertinent data. Also, it appears I cannot make changes to my tune as it will render the throttle locked and error out (haven not tried, but other users have reported this issue when trying to modify the Whipple OS), I do not get the OS patch message when I read out the tune, and none of the Whipple flight controls show up in the VCM scanner on my OS which also leads me to believe that at this time this OS is not fully supported. Additionally, the Editor will not identify my hardware type, it must be manually selected before readout can occur.

This is on a 2017 Mustang GT/Whipple Tune

So, I believe my only solution moving forward to is to migrate away from the Whipple OS, onto a fully supported calibration, if I want to properly log/modify the tune.

I have contacted support twice over the last 3 months (lost my original E-mail so had to provide an additional request), but no word back as of yet as to when/if it will be supported.

At this point there are some changes I would like to make such as headers/more boost, but am stuck until I can either get support for this OS, or change OS entirely. I really love the Whipple power by gear feature, and would love to keep this OS so that can remain, in addition to being able to keep both the MCT sensor and IAT sensor in play as well.

Any advice appreciated, still have my fingers crossed that support will come through on this, but if not I need to prepare for the next option as I move forward, and figured there were some experienced eyes in here that may be able to offer an alternative solution.

You need to email support and they will fix the issue, sometimes takes them a while sometimes its next day just depends on issue. They have fixed for me several times on cars I've tuned and are currently working on another with same issue.

Thank you. Indeed, support usually is pretty quick to resolve issues in my experience as well, however we are going on 2 months with no additional word at this point. I sent another support ticket in, only because I accidentally deleted my email from them that was over 2 months old.

Really stuck on this vehicle until this is either supported or I change OS's entirely it looks like. I want to do some longtubes/mid pipe as well, but from what I have gathered I am unable to change anything in the tune as doing a write will put the car into some sort of reduced power mode Whipple has in place, unless the ability to patch the file is done with HP, which currently I get no prompt to do so and was informed by HP months ago not to try it until the OS patch prompt comes up.

I tried the latest Beta the other day, still no luck, therefore it's either continue to wait for an undetermined amount of time, or find another solution so i can keep moving forward, then switch back once the OS is supported, unless there is another way that I am not aware of.

So it has to be something I am doing wrong. Here's what I have, as you can see, no knock pid at all and limited on some other pids. This is using the latest Beta:

    https://drive.google.com/open?id=1q3...rZA5Fja1cqktap

What OS is your car running? Mine is: YRBS0. Also, do the flight controls/power by gear show up under your special functions section in the scanner? I am told that on supported Whipple OS's it does....mine has nothing.

As you can see in the pics, there is no knock pid at all. Typically on Ford I'm pretty sure the PID shows ADV - or Retard + as a Knock Pid, but all I can see is the Advance pid.

I'd swap to a different strategy. Either a better, supported whipple strategy or a good ford strategy. You're missing probably more than 100 PIDs because of your strategy. This I'd about the time next years cars be released. There are a lot of releases. Honestly I don't know what or how HPTuners finds these parameters and PIDs or how much work it would take. I'm sure they're real busy.
Find yourself a good strategy with iat2 and you could get started. Your channel list make it impossible to tune a blower car right.

Whats the best whipple strategy for 15-17 cars (manual trans) cause working on one now that clearly isn't supported yet and I been waiting a week and customer getting annoyed.

I completely agree. No way would I try and poke at this without the proper PID's, and luckily the Whipple tune seems to be very decent so no real need at this point. However, I am progressing towards finally modding the setup, starting with removing my cats and going longtubes/mid pipe, at which time I will certainly need to make adjustments. I was hoping to get a leg-up on the tuning side of this by putting the support ticket in months ago, but so far no luck. However, I am behind schedule anyhow so no worries just yet there...but it is going to be a bottleneck by spring 2020 for sure if this OS does not become supported.

Agreed. I have no idea how some tuner shops make any profit when these scenarios crop up....and true it is just part of the industry, after all it is modifying a custom built OS by Whipple vs an OEM strategy which HP is usually VERY quick to respond to via the ticket system, no complaints there from them at all in my past experiences.

I'm hopeful they support these Whipple OS's.....it would be great on this end for sure, vs going to an entirely different OS/Tune, but it is what it is unfortunately at the present time.

Thank you support for taking care of this for me, I appreciate it very much! I now have the ability to read/write and see all the necessary PIDS to move forward from here.

    Again, Thank You!!
