Swap from charger 5.7 to 6.4

Hey, my car is a 2014 charger rt, i swapped my engine from a 5.7 to a 6.4 im trying to figure out what's the easiest way for me to convert my 5.7 tune to a stock 6.4 tune. do i have to copy parameters one by one, or i can just use a stock 6.4 tune from the repository.

i need help, its a complete stock 6.4 engine, i also got the intake runners to work with an MSD switch so they open up at the same RPM as a stock 6.4.

    HELP

Even if you copy over all the parameters from a 6.4, I can tell you the 5.7 PCM will not report the correct cam angles as it is setup for a cam with an LSA of 114.25 not one with a 120.5 LSA. 5.7 PCM treats exhaust angle of 125 as full advance where a 6.4 treats it as ~135 so you will need to apply an offset of -10 degrees to all the VVT exhaust tables.

Not sure if it would work? I would also get an engine harness just to be on the safe side. Might even get the manifold valve to work?

regarding the manifold, i got the MSD switch to operate it. but in the future i might go that route with the wiring harness as well.

PCM will work but you will need to program the vin and make a few changes with hptuners. harness shouldn't be needed.

So a 6.4 PCM running 6.4 OS can be programmed with a 5.7 vin?

Absolutely. We have done plenty of 6.4 swaps and when engine comes with harness & PCM, we use it. Send 6.4 PCM for unlock and have them write new VIN.

I thought the witech stuff would somehow not allow it or the 5.7 BCM would have issues with the 6.4 PCM. I mean, if you look at the tune details in HP tuners it lists the vehicle info which I thought the BCM looks for as well. Thanks for confirming.

One advantage I could think of would be the VVT values would not have to be offset. As I state before, the 5.7 PCM shows full cam advance with and exhaust angle of 125 deg where as a 6.4 PCM sees it as 135.

Just need to set table 13512 to 5.7 so ABS/ESP will be happy. If you leave as 6.4, ABS/ESP light stays on with DTC's for configuration mismatch and will disable.

    Big thanks to Hemituna!

    What about flashing a 6.2 OS into a 5.7/6.4?

Probably not since the PCM is a different part number I'm guessing.

Does it matter which vehicle it comes out of as long as it's 2011 to 2014 6.4? Where is it sent to have vin programmed in?

I found refurbed on Flagship one for 187.00 with vin programmed in, lots of different p/n though. How do you which one is right?

Well we have Witech access to handle things like that. If the PCM is 2015+, we have HP write new VIN during unlock process.

    Exactly,

thats what happened when i first installed it and ran it. ABS/ESP was off.
contacted hemituner and he told me to change the displacement value to 5.7 and bam worked like a charm

yes it matter, preferably you should send in your PCM cause of the part number and module number should match.
what i did cause im oversea i gave AJ(Hemi Tuner) my VIN and he bought me a new PCM then flashed it for me with the 6.4 OS.

never install a PCM thats not for your model or has different part numbers.

Reviving an old thread because I just did this swap. I installed a 2020 6.4L from a scat pack Challenger into a 2018 300C 5.7L. It's still using the stock 5.7L 8HP70 but with a 1320 torque converter installed. 3.09 differential installed. PCM is a new unlocked HPT unit. I flashed in a complete calibration from a 2019 1320 Challenger and the car runs and drives fine under light throttle, but under WOT the PCM never gives me full throttle except for a few blips after shifts, never makes full power. Appears to be torque managing itself down. When this happens, the Throttle Input PID says: Transmission, and when I momentarily get actual WOT is says; Pedal. I take this to mean the transmission is torque limiting it. No faults from the transmission or engine that would limit power.

My question is for any of you who have done this swap, did you have any transmission issues like this afterwards and if so how did you solve them?
