A4 to M6 VSS

The vehicle has ABS/stabilitrack
E67 controller W/ auto trans

I was told, and have read, that my speedo & cruise control will no longer work if i swap a M6 into it.
I read that the speedo gets the VSS signal from the ECU, which gets it from the TCM.


I dropped my pan, unplugged the input speed sensor, and removed DTCs
-The speedo still worked fine. i forgot to try the cruise control-

Where is the speedo getting its signal from? it must be using the speed sensor on the tailshaft. Couldnt i just plug in my ouput speed sensor harness to the M6 tailshaft and essentailly have the same result? (I know HPT has the VSS tooth calibration function)

If this is going to work correctly, can i just remove all the trans DTCs and go from there? Or would i be better off doing a trans segment swap on a M6 E67 vehicle?
