Total Newbie, how hard is this to really use

    Hello all,

I've installed others tunes on peoples cars and trucks over the years, but never done it myself. I was wondering how difficult this is really to do? I have not purchased the product yet, but need to as I am building a 5.7 hemi Dakota, and I have others that I will need to tune. I am a bit "scared" to just jump in.....really have no idea where to begin. How difficult is this really to get reasonably good at?

I know it is a subjective question, but .....

Thanks for any input that you might have.

    Phil

Buy the Dodge book from Tuning School, then visit back here often and read read read. I have done nearly 25 cars in the past year of Dodge alone be it srt4, srt8, and srt10, Neon, Calibur, Challenger, Charger, Viper, etc... I am able to get the tune 90% correct and I follow guidance from my boss to do the rest. I get how to command what he directs in the software. That takes a bit of understanding. Once you get it you can tune with a beer in hand in the passenger seat while your pal drives. Also even cheat the rules a bit. I desensitize knock sensors from engine to engine, Such as 2.5 for srt4, I have definitely done it to all of them within reason. Not a GM yet though. Haven't found the need. Then learn about all the tables you have at your disposal. Know what they do, why, and what other tables compliment them. Don't try blind stuff, stop and think. Better to lose time than a build.

The beginner course work can be bought here...not inexpensive though.
