2001 5.9 cant get a read

im on the latest firmware and using the latest vcm suite but when i try and get a read off the truck the software says protocolnot detected but the truck is listed on the supported list. one thing i find strange is my friend has a 2001 jeep with a 4l in it and a jtec ecu and hp tuners is able to id the ecu even though its not on the supported list. anyone have any insight?

You are probably doing it correct. But may be having the same issue as me. I?ve been told you need a good solid internet connection when attempting to read off the truck. Did you have internet when you made the first attempt?

Internet is required due to HP needing to update you OS

im running into the same problem with a 2001 jeep wrangler.Just made sure i was with latest update,just sent my log info to hp tuners.

I can get a read and I can program but I haven't had any luck using the scanner/datalogging side of the tuner on my 1998 Ram.

I was having the same issue on a 2002 JTEC+, so I downloaded the BETA version of VCM Editor and it works fine now.
