    07 E38 to 09 6l90e

So I have an 07 L92 from and Escalade I'm looking to swap to a C10. I have found a 2wd 6L90e locally but is from an 09 Silverado. Is there any chance I reprogram the E38 to an 09 to work with the 6L90e? If it's not that easy what is the easiest way to do it then? Otherwise I already have a 4l80e I could use with a different harness and TCM I guess if I had too. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

I had similar problem with 09 Yukon Denali 6.2 VVT L9H AWD and an 07 4L70e. Went with Compushift for trans and haven't had any problems. I am a newbie however so take it for what it's worth. Mike at Compushift gave me lots of great info on the tranny I couldn't get from Gm. Good luck.

Yes, you could use a dealership tool to flash the E38 with a 2009 operating system that will work with the 2009 TCM. If everything was hooked up and together you could do the flash at one time, so it does both the PCM/TCM.

    I don't see why this wouldn't work.

Thanks for the responses guys. If I was was to get another e38 from a different 09 Silverado would it be possible to just use HP Tuners on them and skip the dealership programming or is that inevitable if the ECU and TCM came from different trucks even if the same year?

The ECM and TCM will need to be matched up via programming. HP Tuners cannot do that, unfortunately.

Ok so just to verify. If they both came from 09 Silverados just different ones it would still require programming beyond HP Tuners?

Ok thanks guys. At one time I had the trans that came with it but figured it was easier to sell it since it was a 4x4 but should have kept it and converted it to 2wd I guess

What is the easiest way to get the programming done for a swap then. If I do it locally do I have to get it in the truck and wired up or can bring in just parts? Any place I can just send it to?

Find someone with a Tech II/MDI or capatible device. Where are you located?

I'm in Des Moines, Iowa. I called our local speed shop who also owns a Chevy dealer and I don't think they have done this type of thing. They said they could order a bench harness to reprogram.

You could hook everything up and tow it to their dealership. That might work. If you were in MD, I would help you out. I have a device Tech II/MDI compatible device.

I appreciate it jaydubb71. I'll see what the dealership says about it here locally otherwise I talked to Speartech and they said they could do it but recommended to use an 09 ECU for better parameters.
