    E80A - flex fuel enabled?

Hi, looking for some technical insight.

Background: Subject vehicle is a 2017 Chevy Volt Premier, its a plug-in hybrid. It has a 1.5L 4cyl "range extending" engine, the car has an E80A ECM. So far I have not made any changes to the OE calibration.

My question is around the subject of flex fuel. The car is not stated to support flex fuel. However, I'm noticing in HP Tuners under Engine/FlexFuel:

    Flex Fuel: Enabled
    Fuel Sensor: Virtual
    Default Frequency: 90Hz
    Comp Change Thresh: 2.0%
    Delay Volume: 0.2L
    Transition Volume: 0.45L

Tables for Max Torque Timing Alcohol Adder and Max Torque Timing Mult are populated (the latter is 0.0%/0.0000, 10.0% 0.2000, 20.0% 0.5000, 50% 0.7000, 80% 1.000).

Stoich AFR table makes a linear transition from 0.0%/14.68018 to 100%/9.0024.

It seems this thing is already nearly setup to run E85?...

Car has only ever been filled with 87octane gasoline that is labeled up to 10% ethanol at the pump. I have so far, never put any E85 in it.

I also logged PIDs Ethanol Fuel % (SAE) and Alcohol %, both are showing 9.8%. The Air Fuel Ratio Commanded is holding at 14.12. Seems right for E10.

So, is this thing already setup for E85? Would it be safe to put 1 gallon of E85 and log data to see if the ECM recalculates Alcohol? Kind of thinking 1 gal may not be enough to trigger the virtual recalculation. Does anyone know where to read what is the trigger fuel level/volume change? Note: car only has a 8.9gal fuel tank.

Here is the calibration and a log file (note: you have to use the Beta HP Tuners to read them)

log 1 12.24.2019 7.22am checking if virtual flex sensor shows anything.hpl

Virtual means it guesses the content based on sensor inputs. It does not have a physical sensor installed typically.

I have a 2018 cruze same thing you saying. I put 2 gallons e85 and nothing changed other than my fuel trims went up to 27% and check engine light came on

Does anyone know what pin to tie the flex fuel sensor into on the E80A ECM?

This may work on yours. My E80 was having issues but the E80A should work fine. Let us know how it goes and what your install/setup is like.
