    Sluggish O2 sensors

    I travel a lot and and only get a little time to do yard work honey do lists and car work. One thing I have noticed is that my O2 sensors are sluggish. The trims are good +/- 2%-5%. I know one of the reasons is because the sensors sit further back since I have longtubes. I also read somewhere, I think it was Higgs is that you could set your milliamp voltage slightly different to help, but looking at the tables in Engine>Oxygen sensors> Integral delay there is also an amount of time to declare a rich/lean switch condition. Is it feasable to shorten the period? The logic would seem that you can adjust the voltage to declare how much mV, and then how much time it would require to se it before switching?

    Or would this cause other problems?

    this probably sounds funny, but I run all my personal cars full time open loop and ditch the factory narrowbands. I have three widebands in my Z06, lol.

    Once tuned, none of my cars deviate more than 5% from commanded throughout a whole calendar year.

    As long as you dont move from Texas to say Denver, if its dialed in.......

    Here's what I'm talking about...

    I'm showing some torque advance still, so I need to figure out which way to go with my torque settings. That I hope will settle my timing advance some more.

    Or is that because I'm running a large cam?

    Set the O2 mv's swing to 450/450 instead of 550/350. This will waken them up a little bit. Common change when doing long tubes. It shouldn't change the max/min fuel trims observed in the scanner, but it should make the low throttle and idle trims react quicker.

    Ok it was you not Higgs.

    That worked and I did shorten the declared time and they are a perfect sinewave now with +/- 2%. Lambda is a lot more steady and only swings from .98/1.02 realtime...not avg.

    I still have about 3-4* torque advance i need to work out at idle.

    What do you mean you shortened the declared time? The Integral Delay> Airflow mode?

    Torque Management Advance is normal at idle. Do you only have 3-4 degrees total TMA? Or are you saying you would like to see 3-4 degrees less of TMA at idle?

    A quick way to reduce TMA at idle is to lower the virtual torque tables in the idle area.

    Ive ran a many years on the same Open Loop tune with a Turbo LQ4 towing. Never seen much of a difference. Just kill engine while fueling up and let it get a fresh Baro Reading at startup seems to make a difference if altitude changes.

    I'm referring to Fuel>Oxygen Sensors>Rich/Lean vs Airflow>Max Rich and Max Lean. Set these to 450mv.

    What got mine reading accurately was decreasing Proportional>Airflow Mode by 10% and increasing Integral Delay>Airflow Mode by 15%.

    I tried that and they would hang for too long and my WB swung wider. Now my WB is .98-1.02 again. Before it would swing from .95-1.08.

    It's at about 10* ish right now.

    I was scanning a friends last week.....bone stick with around 15 to 18 warm...

    With a larger cam, your idle cells are all different in the VVE and VT tables vs airflow. You likely need to reduce the VVE in the new idle areas and even the VT.

    I had some local person say just the opposite saying it was adding because i was not producing enough.
