Battery change zeroed out engine hours.

I changed out the battery and it zeroed out the engine hours. 2011 Silverado was having a problem with the battery running down. I pulled the battery and put in a known good one and somehow the engine hours got reset to zero. I didn't think this was possible but it happened. Does anybody know how this could have happened? E 38 ECM.

Wow! Never heard of any thing like that before, I believe the hour meter is stored on the eprom of the guage cluster along with the mileage maybe a loose connection at the cluster or failing eprom or just very intermittent issue caused by the low voltage from the old battery.

This is very common, especially with the Duramax diesels. (They eat batteries) Lol. Nothing you can do about it
