    MAP Sensor Bingo! Thank You!

I got home and metered the Edelbrock extension cable and its fine. I removed the Edelbrock MAP and my OE MAP fit & sealed into the hole fine and plugged it in.
Started the scanner and cleared stored codes and started the car. No codes, ETC light gone, only Traction Control icon remains, no engine light.
The car attempting to do a warmup idle was a tad rough and low for about 10 seconds and then the idle started bouncing up and down from almost a stall to maybe 650, I shut her down. Talk about smelling up the garage!

Obviously this is from the wrong MAP. So I google the p/n on the MAP, a MOPAR part number, and get an HPT Forum hit describing exactly what we have been seeing.
Please give it a read. One of these smarter than us people replied with some facts. It may or may not apply to us because in my researching for this project I read about guy getting a bad MAP from Edelbrock.

Damn, call me hard headed, I did not compare in the Engine Diagnostics, and see Torque Delta and Misfire differences in addition to MAP settings.

Its Running! Dang it! I did not compare the Diagnostic sections. You may have pointed to it and I didn't pick up on it but the thread I stumbled upon with the screen shots got me. I noticed the tables were in the Diagnostics sections.

Geesh, $170.00 for the TB, a smoker build (I'll enjoy it) an SCT I'll not need, and almost another MAP sensor later shes running.
But, I got a killer price on the unit, saving on the non-tune kit (THANK YOU conan!) and labor installing it myself not too shabby. Still the dyno tune and Wide Band & Boost dials to come. Still WAY WAY under a shop turn key install.

It feels good, didn't push it hard. The traction control light is staying on, it drives like in sport mode not shifting normally or as soon as I want.
Would your gear ratio have migrated? I'm 2.65:1.

Now to order the WB & Boost dials and to the muffler shop.

Good to read it's up and running. I totally forgot about comparing diagnostics myself.

Shouldn't have, you'd be in limp mode. How far have you driven it?

    No limping. Smooth idle.
No codes, I drove it about 8 miles, highway, Couple partial throttle
    romps.
I'm worried about the trans with no tune so I'm not pushing it hard.
It needs a tune pretty bad as far as smoothness or linear throttle. Pressing the pedal slowly from 50 thru to 70 gets pauses or hesitation spikes. Reminds me of 4bbl manual secondaries of yore.
Man it takes a long time to get to Temps now with the bigger radiator.
After the drive I put my hand on the blower and hoses, not hot at all.

Boost seems to come on late compared to the truck. Later and more sudden.

They call it the light switch affect, boost comes on sudden and hard, not smooth. A lot of that stuff can be worked out in tune, just depends on how much time you want to spend on it. Smoothing out cam angle is one, timing and air flow are others. Trial and error.. My boost comes in pretty early now, fun for street, maybe not for racing.

Thanks, I have faith it will be as good as it can be after dustethoff tuning wrings it out on the dyno.
So now I want to install a wideband pre cat but it's gonna put the sensor 6-8 inches from the manifold. Dang short run between the cat and manifold collector port.
    Is that too close?

No headers. Shes going to stay as is. Just dialed in the best it can be. I'll go out and pick on Camry's and mini vans.

Next order of business, removing the left Cat to have a bung welded in. Letting the fasteners soak now. How easy/hard did yours come off for the header install?

Also, since I'm going to posses the SCT ujit I'm going have Edelbrock send me their tune via the process in the instructions. Its free and I would like to see the compare.
    So this is the process?

    • Backup current hpt 300c Edelbrock tune to PC.
    • Connect the SCT and know it will use the current 300c hpt tune as a Back Up.
    • Flash the Edelbrock provided Charger calibration.
    • Read with HPT and save in hpt format.
    • Run the car just to make sure it will. Short drive.
    • Restore SCT backup, the original 300c hpt file.
    • Disconnect SCT and flash via HPT preferred HPT tune?

My bolts came out easy, 16000 miles and Florida. All other stuff sounds like a plan, but I would just get to tuner and have at it. You're not gonna gain anything from Edelbrock.

Thanks, the nuts spun off fine, then the studs, I was pleasantly surprised.
New hardware will go back in. I seen a parts list with gaskets but see no evidence of that with the ball & socket thing going on. I called the dealership and was told the gaskets are shaded out on their drawing under my VIN.

As for the Edelbrock Charger Tune, purely for curiosity between the 300 and the R/T. I cannot thank you enough for coming forward with the file.
I want to compare them. I want to have it on hand in hpt in the event someone asks like I did. I'm gonna repository it.

    Little update.
Bung hole drilled and fitted, getting it welded in the AM. New exhaust studs and nuts come in Tuesday. They same out so well I wanted to go back with dealership hardware.
Sent Edelbrock the calibration update request and should get it tomorrow.
Received my gauges and mount finding the console pocket a perfect fit. I was just guessing when I ordered the $8.00 two gauge mount. But the top lip goes into a slit at the top like its made for it.
I don't want a-pillar pods because of the unwanted attention. I'll not be the fastest thing out there but I want to be totally sleep-ish. I know I have to look down to see them but am aware of that. I don't study them much anyways. I'll mostly check the peaks periodically. I still can't believe how well they fit there. When in drive the shifter is out of the way.

I cannot choose if I like it with the side covers or not. I guess I don't mind either way.
The looming you see over the catch can hoses was tossed on the job by a vendor doing an installation. I seen him toss it in the hopper. Its high temp, not split, and quite flexible. These are a little higher resolution than I usually post.

Looks good. I like it without the side covers. I removed mine, big heat sinks, they should have been plastic.

Finally have all the stuff to do my cam, just need to arrange time at friends shop when he's slow.

While I was under there I pulled my O2 sensors and the came free so I'm replacing all 4. With OE NTK units.
I have a dyno tune appointment set up for 2/21.

The traction control icon finally off after I plugged in the brake booster lead I removed while wrestling to get the hose off during the install.
Hooray, finally no faults, lights, or codes.

While it was convenient I changed out all the o2 sensors with NTK's. The OE NTK's said assembled in USA. The replacements say NTK Japan. No codes like some get with Bosch.

Shes off the stands. All that's left is to run the gauge leads and the dyno on 2/14. Its a Mustang Dyno.

So while driving it before the dyno appt with the AFR setup what ratio would be boarding on too lean @3/4 throttle? 11.8:1? I'll log a pre-tune run and post it soon. Maybe some 3/4 throttle passes.
