2010 Dodge ECM not responding after interruption of write

This is the second time it has happened. The first time i cancelled a write during the first process of writing to the ecm to make a change before uploading the tune. After that i could no longer write or read the ecm. I took it to the dealer and the reprogrammed it with their tools and i was ok. HPT's response was "you should not abort a write" , well maybe that shouldnt be an option then.

Today my laptop powered down when i began to write a tune and same thing. Im taking it to the dealer tmr and hopefully the ecm can br saved.

When this happened today i did not reset the ignition, kept the car on and rebooted and tried to write then read and nothing. Tried unplugging the ecu, disconnecting battery and touching both terminals together while unplugged from the terminals of course, nothing worked.

This leads to my question, why cant the software force write/recover like the chevy and ford? Something as simple as moving the usb cable can completely ruin someones day. How can this be fixed?

happened once to me, while out logging and tweaking tune, car would do NOTHING after the write failure, write again, rebooted laptop, disconnected battery and nothing, I ended up disconnecting battery for about 10 minutes, wrote the original tune back into PCM, then wrote my tune into PCM

Unfortunately that didnt work. Car went to the dealer and they said the computer is no good. They cannot program it with their tools, no communication. This needs to be addressed.

So, your laptop shuts down mid write, and hptuners should address this. Two things here, one hptuners has absolutely zero control over you or your laptop, second, for anybody that is flashing electronics, know the warnings that come with it. Make sure the battery is charged, turn off screen savers, and auto updates, disable anything that may interfere with or cause an interruption to the read/write process. Sorry, but there isnt anything hptuners could do to have prevented your issue!

This was a flash. Show me where in the programming world is it normal to flash something and not have the ability to reflash or force write after an interruption.

I aborted a write once before the flashing began and had to go to the dealer, i also once tried to input a tire size on a Durango and had to reprogram the abs module, my fault or normal?

They fixed this issue with the Chevy after people lost thousands with similar issues. Now it's happening with Dodge. Yes it needs to he addressed.

Your tough luck to bad mentality has no place here.

A module that is not recoverable after a failed flash isnt a software issue, thats a hardware issue. Ask dodge what their thoughts are on this. Its their hardware. After all, if dodge couldnt bring it back, why would you expect hpt to be able to.

sorry to hear. this also happened to me,customer turn the key off during the erase process. Depending on where it failed the dealer maybe able to reflash back to life. Dealer can only reflash if they see an RPM pid. if they don't the ecu is bricked for good. In my case the rpm pid was not available so dealer was not able to reflash. However they replaced the ecu under warranty by passing it through emission warranty.2011 srt is happened 2018
