L99 Camaro SS concerns with tune from another guy with HP tuners

    Hello All,

I just joined and I am purchasing the mpvi2 and I will be learning how to tune my car myself as I have had issues with other people/vendors tuning my cars in the past. I feel that my lack of tuning knowledge has been taken advantage at times. I may be wrong but wanted to ask you all so I can relieve myself of the stress.

My car has longtube headers, high flow cats and a cold air intake. A guy that I know offered to tune the car for me with HP tuners. After the first tune, I still got rear o2 codes. I took my car back and the codes were shut off. I plug up my scanner and ALL of my I/M monitors are set to N/A. Fuel system, o2 heater and monitor, catalyst monitor, evap, misfire monitor. etc.

Do all those monitors need to be turned off? Im also getting a service vehicle soon message on my dash but I have no codes????

ANY help and feedback is greatly appreciated. I don't race it or beat the crap out of it but I would like to make sure the car is OK.

Thanks everyone! Glad to be a member

You should find a stock tune for your car and compare. Just to see whats in a factory tune.

service engine soon and service vehicle soon are totally different. service vehicle soon is usually indicative of body control issues. hptuners does not access any of that, therefore you will not see any codes until you have the proper tooling to access those

as for the monitors being turned off, if you are not in an emissions area, its not a necessity to have the monitors read ready. Most tuners wont do the extra steps involved with making it all work, unless its 100% necessary.

Thank you all for the responses. I appreciate it!
Is the dealer the only one that can see those service vehicle soon codes from the body control module or would like an oreilly auto scanner show that?

Also, waiting on my hp tuners package to arrive, this guy that tuned my car (i dont speak to him now) said he changed torque management and all that but honestly it feels stock but with the shift pressures increased. I'm a novice level but that's what it sounds like. I have my original stock file that I can compare to the current tune to see what's actually been changed when my stuff arrives.

Does anyone have any suggestions that will help a beginner get the ball rolling on a basic understanding of making changes to fuel, timing and torque management on this car other than scour the forum? I've been reading a ton but all these tons of parameters in HP tuners look foreign to me lol.

Lastly, does anyone know what the target afr values are on a stock L99 tune? I saw on my tune when the guy did it that it was anywhere from 11.0 to 11.7 or 11.8 through the rpm range.

Sorry for all the questions, all feed back is very much appreciated more than you know!

The scanners at auto parts stores, no, but a "real" scanner will. If it cost $250, it likely wont. A professional scanner will

Got it hooked up to a good scanner, showing stored codes p1153 and p1133 but it says failed to turn on the MIL. I know that is due to o2 sensors further down the exhaust and taking longer to heat up. How does one turn these off completely so I dont have the codes stored at all and also so that service vehicle soon message quits??

    Any help is appreciated!

YOUR STILL LOOKING AT ENGINE COMPUTER, YOU NEED TO LOOK AT BODY CODES, THEY WILL NOT BE "p" CODES, BUT "B" CODES. LOOK IN BODY CONTROL MODULE, INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, RCDLR, ETC. THESE ARE WHAT IS TURNING ON THE SERVICE VEHICLE SOON LIGHT
