    07 Tahoe Engine swap VATS Disabled

    Hi all, thanks for reading! Just bought a Tahoe 07 4wd, 1GNFK13007R418724 with a 5.3. The shop I bought it from said the generic misfire from AFM (DOD) occurred, owner brought it in and they swapped engines. The shop seemed somewhat backwoods and didn't know much about the engine, just that it wouldn't crank whatsoever. I bought it and from running the vin, I see it had the LMG installed. I haven't broke down the new engine yet but it's an iron block 5.3, with VVT and AFM, and its a 4th gen due to the timing cover having the CPS.

    Now all that's said, got it home and hooked power up (who knows how long it's sat without a battery), and of course it didn't even want to turn over. The security light was on and the dash read "SERVICE THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM", among several other things (4x4, Air bag, stabilitrak, traction control, and reduced engine power). Naturally, my first step was to disable VATS and rewrite entire.

    After I did this, the engine turned and even ran for a second lol, and I presumed the dash reading of the VATS would go away. Is there a fuse or anything I can reflash this ECM to keep: A. The light from displaying and B. The Service Theft Deterrent System warning to go away?

    Thanks for all your time, I've attached a brief scan file (nothing is hooked up so didn't run the engine for long) along with the factory tune and tune after the VATS deletion. I'm somewhat new to HP Tuners, so any help is appreciated!

    You would assume some of the stuff would go away once it was actually running on it's own. Other than the VATS in the OS tab and a few DTC's, that is all there is for that.

    Be aware that 2007 trucks never came with VVT, so if they installed a VVT engine you have other stuff to deal with to make that work.
    2016 Silverado CCSB 5.3/6L80e, not as slow but still heavy.

    If you don't post your tune and logs when you have questions you aren't helping yourself.

    Thanks for the response, but as I said I'm new to Engine programming. I can program code all day long, and when I disable something in code thats the last of it lol. So I assumed a ECM would function the same. After tearing the engine apart, factory was a LMG with DOD, replaced with a LMF w/ DOD and VVT, and somehow the "expert shop" that put it in didn't know what the extra solenoid was, and also didn't know why it wouldn't crank afterwards. I'm still kinda confused how an LS Swap triggered VATS?

    When you disabled the VATS, did you do a Write Entire on the ECM? If not, you'll need to do that next. I'd also disable any starter faults.

    Its cranking fine now, I did do a write entire on both ECM and TCM. My concern now is the Service system message. Will disabling starter faults make that go away?

    service system is body control, not engine. The bcm is likely where the fault is, even though you corrected the no start by disabling vats in the ecm, the issue still exists in the body system. Unfortunately until that is rectified, it will continue display service vehicle soon. Hptuners does not access body control functions
